Although Irlen Syndrome is recognised by the scientific community, it is undetected by standard tests.

A certified Irlen Practitioner can identify Irlen Syndrome and manage the problem by prescribing special Irlen coloured filters to be worn in glasses.

The girls received their filters on Friday afternoon and they haven’t had them off since receiving them. It really has opened up a whole new world for them. The comments on how they see things now is amazing. Both have noticed that there is less strain and concentration required.

The girls really can’t take the smiles off their faces, they are that happy. It has taken me ten years to find out about Irlen Syndrome, hence, I am very interested in learning more about the Syndrome and sharing the knowledge. Thanking you so very much

I just wanted to let you know, today was the first day of me wearing my new Irlen lenses and it is also the first day I haven’t ended up with a bad headache that I can remember – amazing!!!!
Also, I can now comfortably drive at night, without the headlights blinding me – also amazing!!!!
Thanks

Hello heather, I am just so overwhelmed with my son’s testing yesterday. I want to tell the world.  I can’t imagine how many people must go through life struggling with this. I was still shedding tears last night. I slept like a baby and my son hasn’t stopped smiling. It’s better than winning the lotto.

I thought you might like to hear that my girls are going well with their glasses.
The very best news is that, today, Sophy (aged 11) rode a bicycle for the very first time on her own, without assistance. Needless to say I cried standing in the school playground, watching her grinning from ear to ear, riding her friend’s bike. Shoelaces are no problem anymore either. Life is good.

I received my glasses at lunchtime yesterday and oh my goodness!!! They are fantastic. I drove home from the gym last night and I was amazed how much easier it was to see, no oncoming glare from the other cars headlights and I didn’t feel like everything was crowding around me

Please feel free to put my comments on your Irlen page, it’s only two days and already the difference they have made is just incredible. Thank you so much.

Tom made me laugh last week. I was reading him a story in bed and he said  ”Hang on a minute, Mum”, he jumped out and grabbed his Irlen glasses and got back in. ”Now I can see”!

Irlen Screener and Diagnostician

BScHons. Dip Teach. Dip Ed.

Since starting teaching in 1968 I have always been searching for a way to really make a difference for my students. I taught in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, followed by a time in learning support, running an Early Education group and Kumon centre (after school tuition )

In 2002 I had the opportunity to train as an Irlen Screener and several years later became a Diagnostician.
Diagnosing Irlen Syndrome and prescribing tinted lenses for clients of all ages is definitely making that difference I was looking to make when I started teaching in 1968.

Irlen Screener

I have served nineteen years in the Australian Army as a psychological examiner.
I have two daughters who have been diagnosed with Irlen syndrome. The girls have had remarkable success since they started wearing their Irlen filters, both in school and in their game of golf.
Seeing such huge improvements in my own girls inspired me to become an Irlen Screener and help others who have the syndrome.
